Megan & Rory’s Outer Banks Beach Wedding – 06/25/10 Corolla, NC

“The Story Of Us”

Rory and Megan Owens…

“The night we met started like any other.  I had gotten off work in Virginia and decided to hang out with a girl from work who was from the Currituck, North Carolina area.  She decided that we should go to a truck pull in NC, which is something I have never done before.  When we arrived she introduced me to many people most of whom were from NC.  Then it happened!   I met Rory, my husband.  As soon as I laid eyes on him it was over, his laugh, temperament, and search for a good time sealed the deal.  We were invited to his house for a get together after the truck pull and decided to go.  Since that night I never left his house ever again and a couple weeks after meeting moved my things to NC.  Many people have never experienced love at first sight but the both of us have with each other.

Two and a half years after dating and living together he had decided without my knowledge to propose.  He planned a dinner and movie date to see an epic love story that many of you know as Twilight. We planned to go see the newest Twilight movie “New Moon”.  However, with butterflies in his stomach and the desire for it all to go smoothly, some obstacles stood in his way.  On our way to dinner he received not one but two speeding tickets.  We finally made it to our dinner destination and then off to the movie.  Before the movie began we were sitting in our seats just chatting.  I looked away for a split second and turned around to a ring box opened and the most beautiful ring I have ever seen staring at me.  He proposed and of course the answer was an excited “YES”.

After getting engaged in November we set our wedding date for June 25, 2010.  That date was extremely special because it is the same day that my parents had been married 27 years earlier.  The wedding went fairly smoothly with few surprises.  We were married in Corolla, NC in an event home on the sound.  The weather was absolutely beautiful and as our many guests came from far and wide it was an event to remember. When it came time for toasts, many people wanted to say their piece about our day and life together.  My dad commented that one of my bridesmaids turned to him after probably the 4th toast and said “yep, this is definitely a Currituck Wedding”.  There was great food provided by Coastal Provisions a local business, the cake was created by my mother who plans to soon open up her own wedding service for cakes, flowers, and wedding décor.  She did a fabulous job creating the look and overall feel of my wedding by running with the few ideas I gave her. Just an example, I told her I wanted a candy bar, she then took it upon herself to make a beautiful set up of all different kinds of yellow and white candy.  All the stress was taken away when she basically became my personal wedding planner.  It was absolutely gorgeous and I thank her from the bottom of my heart for all she did.
